| From the first days of
the IBM personal computers in the early 1980s our Director, Steven
Courteney, was building 'home made' geographic information systems
using DOS based software such as dBase III® and AutoCad®
in order to handle the large amounts involved in new ventures work
in the oil and gas industry.
As in-house IT Departments were set-up and as software vendors
began to react to market demand, Steven gained experience with various
proprietary applications as well as publicly available software
such as ArcView® (ESRI) and MapInfo Professional®.
WGS has considerable experience with MapInfo Professional®
as well as MapBasic® being a user of both products
since our company's inception. Since 2000 WGS has also provided
support for ArcView® systems and has spent over a
year carrying out GIS development using MapObjects®
and VisualBasic®.
