Our Director, Steven Courteney, was significantly involved in the publication of the PERTAMINA - Indonesian Petroleum Association Oil and Gas Fields Atlases from 1989 to 1991 and has presented the following technical papers and poster. Please click on the title to see the full abstract:

  • The Palaeogene Rifts of Western Indonesia, which was co-authored by a colleague, H.H. Williams. This paper was presented at the AAPG Annual Meeting 'Analogs for the World' in Denver, America, on June 15th, 1994.

  • Sequence Stratigraphy Applied to the Hydrocarbon Productive Basins of Western Indonesia. This paper was presented at the AAPG International Conference 'Southeast Asian Basins: Oil and Gas for the 21st Century' in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on August 23rd, 1994.The Geological Society of Malaysia requested the manuscript for this paper for publication in a proceedings volume of the conference. Publication was planned for 1995, but it is not known if it actually occurred.

  • The Future Hydrocarbon Potential of Western Indonesia, which was presented as a poster at the International Symposium on Sequence Stratigraphy in S.E. Asia in Jakarta (Indonesia) on May 16th, 1995 and was subsequently published in the symposium proceedings. The Oil & Gas Journal requested permission to publish this poster as an article and a slightly modified version was subsequently published in the Oil & Gas Journal in two parts under the titles: 'Sequence Stratigraphy buoys Western Indonesia Basins' (May 20th, 1996 - click here to view) and 'Middle Eocene, Older Sequences in Rifts Key to Potential in Western Indonesia' (May 27th, 1996 - click here to view).

  • The Palaeogene Rifts of Western Indonesia - A Review, which was co-authored by H.H. Williams. This paper was presented at the AAPG Heberg Research Conference with the theme of 'Oil & Gas Exploration in Lacustrine Basins' in Dong Ying City, China on October 16th, 1995.

  • Lessons from the School of "Hard Knocks", a lunchtime lecture presented to the New Zealand Association of Petroleum Geologists on 28 June 2000. This presentation reviewed three petroleum geology lessons learnt overseas and suggested that they could be applied to exploration in New Zealand. Click here to view Lesson 1. Please note: you will need Microsoft© Internet Explorer 5.0+ and Macromedia© Flash to view this lesson!

  • Exploration Significance of the Recognition of Rift Graben Lacustrine Source Rocks, which was co-authored by H.H. Williams and R.T. Eubank. This paper was presented at the AAPG International Conference & Exhibition in Bali, Indonesia on October 16th, 2000. Click here for extended abstract in Adobe Acrobat format.
